Salary: £20,000.00-£25,000.00 (Dependent on experience)

Hours: 35 Per Week

What is my role as a Training and Development Officer?

Our Training and Development Officer works as an integral part of our people function- playing a vital role in our THRIVE team by supporting all our people through the entire employee life cycle. Training and development officers help with the ongoing, long-term improvement of employees’ skills, enabling them to fulfill their potential within their organisation. Increasingly, training and development officers are required to be strategic rather than reactive, assessing the skills and knowledge within an organisation and determining what training is needed to grow and retain these skills.

What will I be doing in my role as a Training and Development Officer?

  • Facilitate and deliver effective training inductions using for new staff resulting in our people being operationally ready to join their teams
  • Liaise with the relevant Band 2/3 managers to ensure that all our people are fully supported throughout their transition from Academy to the operation conducting regular skip level sessions
  • Continually review new starter feedback and evaluate all learning materials to continually improve materials and modules
  • identify training and development needs within an organisation through job analysis and regular consultation with business managers
  • design and expand training and development programmes based on the needs of the organisation and the individual
  • devise individual learning plans where applicable
  • produce training materials for in-house courses and refreshes where needed
  • ensure that statutory client training requirements are met and logged
  • Facilitate L&D client audits as and when required to support the L&D manager
  • help line managers and people solve specific training problems, either on a one-to-one basis or in groups
  • keep up to date with developments in training by reading relevant journals, going to meetings and attending relevant courses
  • understand e-learning techniques, and where relevant, be involved in the creation and/or delivery of e-learning packages
  • research new technologies and methodologies in workplace learning and present this research.

Who are we looking for?

  • Minimum 1-year previous Training experience
  • CIPD qualified or working towards it (desirable)
  • interpersonal skills that enable you to work with people at all levels, motivate others and change people’s attitudes when necessary
  • written and spoken communication skills that allow you to inform and advise others clearly
  • problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • initiative and the ability to offer new ideas
  • organisational and planning skills to manage your time and to meet deadlines and objectives
  • good time-keeping skills to enable you to effectively manage training schedules
  • personal commitment to improving your own knowledge and skills.

The Finer Details:

There will be a requirement to work across our sites for this role in every aspect. You will contribute to additional L&D projects as and when required. This is largely an office-based role although you will spend time across both sites, so you must be willing and able to travel. Your working day will typically be standard office hours, Monday to Friday. However, you’ll be expected to put in the extra hours where necessary to ensure we deliver deadlines. All in all, a vary varied and challenging role and perfect for someone who wants to make a difference.
